DOCTORS OPPOSE BUS STAND IN JK GROUNDS
The Mysore Medical College Alumni Association has taken strong exception to the Transport Minister Cheluvarayaswamy's disclosure yesterday that a plan to set up a modern bus stand at JK Grounds is mooted. The Secretary of the Association Dr. C. Rajan has said in a press release that the news was shocking to the entire medical fraternity as the said sports ground is an integral part of Mysore Medical College (MMC) which remains with it since 1924. 'The Government of Karnataka has cleared the doubts about the JK Grounds and ultimately declared the grounds as the property of MMC through an order as long back as on Nov. 2004. There is also an order to evict any unauthorised occupants in the JK Grounds', he said. He also said that the Medical Council of India stipulates that medical college should have a sports ground as a prerequisite for recognition of degree from the college, hence it should remain with MMC.
