Renowned Orthopaedic surgeon of Bangalore Dr. K. Srinivasan conducted a live demonstration of joint replacement surgery at Basappa Memorial Hospital (BMH) here this morning as part of the 3rd meet of the workshop on joint replacement.
The workshop was held as part of the 31st annual conference of Karnataka Orthopaedic Association, which will be inaugurated this evening.
The workshop, chaired by the eminent surgeon was presented by the Department of Orthopaedics, Basappa Memorial Hospital for the benefit of about 50 doctors and Post-Graduate students who have registered as delegates.
Dr. N. Nithyanand Rao, Dr. T. Rupendu and Dr. Santosh Kumar joined Dr. Srinivasan in the demonstration of the specialised surgery. Earlier, K.B. Ganapathy, Editor, Star of Mysore, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the CME proramme of the 3rd Joint Replacement Course at Central Institute of Indian Languages auditorium.
Dr. Nithyanand Rao, Organising Secretary of the conference, welcomed Dr. Srinivasan, Dr. Yoganarasimha Achar, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mysore, and Dr. Nitin Srichand, Secretary, were on the dais. K. Harish Machia compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
Dr. Andrita, Dr. Anita and Dr. Divya rendered the invocation. Expert faculty delivered talks on 'Pro-mechanics of Normal and Replaced Knee Joints" and related surgical techniques.
Inauguration
The three-day conference will be formally inaugurated by Dr. V.S. Acharya, Minister for Medical Education, at 6 pm oday in the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, at J.K. Grounds.
