Gesture to Child Care
In a country bustling with a population of over 102 crores, sordid stories involving children are common knowledge. On the one hand, when several cases of child abuse go unnoticed, on the other hand, there are people that also believe that they hold it in trust from God to promote the good of mankind. Perhaps, it is this thought that prompted the Ashadayaka Seva Trust in Medar Block, Bamboo Bazar, Bannimantap, to provide shelter to the deprived children of the streets. The Trust has taken for itself the rehabilitation of the disowned children, for whom the pavements, the bus stands and the railway stations have been their abode until then. The principle of the Trust has been the brain-child of its founder S.K. Suresh. Though his rented residence, located at the Medar Block is just enough for his family of four, he has magnanimously provided shelter for the homeless children numbering over 30. Meritor HVS (India) Limited, a Company under joint venture between ArvinMeritor Inc., US and the Pune-based Kalyani Group, situated at Hootagalli, has come forward to supplement the Trust's efforts by providing daily vegetables and milk to the orphaned children. As a measure of enhancing the hygiene, the premises even underwent a facelift, thanks to the efforts of the company.
