Autonomy row: Interviews likely to be cancelled
The Mysore Medical College authorities are in a fix following the Governor's decision to stay the autonomy granted to the institution. In order to escape the dere-cognition by Medical Council of India (MCI), the College had fixed interviews tomorrow to fill 55 vacancies in teaching faculty. "The interviews are likely to be cancelled", said Dr. D. Venkatesh, Principal of MMC.
K.R. Hospital Superintendent Dr. B.D. Satyanarayana told Star of Mysore that the MCI had asked the MMC to fill the 33 per cent vacant posts to continue recognition. "MMC is in danger of losing recognition if it fails to obey MCI's orders within the deadline", he added. Meanwhile, Dr. Venkatesh is leaving for Bangalore today to discuss the matter with the Director of Medical Education.
