DOCTORS, MEDICOS TAKE OUT MAMMOTH MARCH 

More than 1,000 doctors, medicos, nurses, nursing students and other paramedics marched on the main thoroughfares of the city this morning to register their protest against the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal's verdict.

They demanded the immediate intervention by the Prime Minister and the President of India to resolve the tangle and secure justice for the farmers of Karnataka.

The marchers, all wearing their professional white coat, staged the stir under the auspices of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Mysore Branch, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI) Doctors Association, Government Medical College Teachers Association, Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Department Employees Associations Federation, Nurses Association, Paramedical Staff and Students Association, MMC Alumni Association, Mysore Ayurvedic College Teachers Association, Junior Doctors Association, members of Gopala Gowda Shantaveri Memorial Hospital Trust, Representatives of Basappa Memorial Hospital and Holdsworth Memorial Hospital.

The protestors began their march from the MMCRI premises and reached the office of Deputy Commissioner via Irwin Road, Ashoka Road, Old Statue Square, KR Circle, Devaraj Urs Road where they submitted their memorandum, which was received by S. Palaiah, Head Quarters Assistant to the DC.

They carried banners and placards and formed a human chain around KR Circle for some time.
President of Indian Medical Association, Mysore Branch, Dr. C. Rajan, Vice-President Dr. Mohamad Ghouse and Secretary Dr. M.S. Kempegowda led the march.

Freedom fighters Seetharama Iyengar, ex-MLA Vedanta Hemmige and Kempegowda joined the members of Cauvery Horata Kriya Samithi staging dharna at KR Circle on the 29th day today.
Mysore City Local Lorry Owners Association members came in about 60 lorries from the truck terminal at Harischandra Road carrying nearly 500 daily wagers including cleaners, loaders and others to K.R. Circle via Hardinge Circle, Old Statue Square and drove the vehicles around the Circle before proceeding to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, where they submitted a memorandum.

The protestors were led by President B. Kodandaram, Secretary M.P. Nagaraj, Anwar, Bhyrappa and others.
