PULSE POLIO DRIVE DC SETS TARGET
Deputy Commissioner P. Manivannan has informed that the second round of pulse polio programme will be held tomorrow and warned the Health Department officials that action will be taken against them in case they fail to achieve the target of 90%.
He was speaking at a recent meeting organised in connection with the second round of pulse polio programme. He used them to strive to achieve the target on the first day itself and directed that adequate publicity should be given about the programme at Railway Stations and bus stands.
He also said that he will write a letter to the higher officials to take action against those who did not attend the preliminary meeting. The first round of pulse polio programme in the district on Jan. 6 achieved 99.5 per cent target.
About 1580 pulse polio centres have been opened where it is proposed to cover 3.05 lakh children. On Jan. 6 programme about 2,74,651 children were administered polio drops. Another 28,882 were covered during a door-to-door campaign.
